Career is not a faction or a fixed class

WARDOGS does not lock a player into one selected class. Progress is associated with an overall Career/WARDOG level and six role-oriented tracks: Assault, Medic, Recon, Support, Driver and Pilot. These tracks are separate from the Lonestar, Valkyra and Manticore factions chosen for a match.

Equipment in the loadout determines much of the work you can perform. Switching tasks can feed a different track, while shared Career gates cover account-wide equipment. Read the current reward message and vendor label rather than assuming a weapon name alone tells the whole progression route.

Six progression tracks

TrackTypical workCommon unlock direction
AssaultGeneral infantry combat and assault weaponsRifles and infantry options
MedicHealing, reviving and SMG-related playMedical equipment and SMGs
ReconSpotting, marksman and sniper workOptics, reconnaissance gear and precision weapons
SupportBuilding, repair, resupply and heavy supportHammers, launchers and buildables
DriverGround transport, logistics and vehicle workTrucks, armed ground vehicles and armor
PilotAir transport and helicopter workTransport and armed helicopters

The table is a navigation summary, not a complete current unlock tree. Confirm which action and item feeds a track in the public client.

Level, unlock fee, purchase

Progression uses three distinct states. First, reach the required level. Second, pay a one-time fee when the item has a permanent unlock. Third, pay the deployment price when adding it to a kit or fielding a vehicle. Reaching the level does not automatically place the item in inventory.

The weapon directory and vehicle directory show these fields separately. Keep enough persistent cash for the equipment needed after a major unlock payment.

Confirmed Season 1 changes

The official launch update replaced weekend-test pacing with a longer seasonal curve. Named examples include Heavy Tank moving to Driver level 35, Artillery Tank moving to Career level 90 and $500,000 and Large Hammer moving to Support level 8 and $75,000. The complete set of XP examples and item moves named in that announcement is recorded below.

Why an old XP guide may be wrong

Beta weekends were balanced around short tests, so estimates from those events can understate the time needed in Early Access. The launch notes also moved individual items between levels and tracks. A guide that correctly names a vehicle can still show an obsolete gate or permanent payment.

Do not extrapolate a guaranteed time-to-unlock from another player’s hours. Server activity, chosen tasks and patch balance affect the pace. Use current progress values and aim for equipment that supports work you already enjoy.

Pick a route through actual play

Choose one near-term item, identify its track and perform the useful actions associated with that route. Continue helping the objective instead of farming an action that creates no value for the team. Review progress after the match and keep a second route for general equipment.

Read equipment, vehicles and building for the purchase that follows an unlock. Official XP bands and named moves come from the Season 1 announcement.

Official changes use first-party announcements. Item fields without a current official table remain labeled as dated gameplay records until they can be checked in the public client.
