Build from the current SV98 screen. Select a supported magazine and 7.62×54 mm ammunition, then verify which scopes the current rail accepts. Do not copy an SVD or Mosin purchase list merely because the caliber label matches.
A September 3 controlled creator test selected the SV98 for a deliberate long-range setup. Later forum reports disagree about zeroing and value relative to the Mosin, so current scope behavior and point of impact remain unresolved rather than being stated as facts.
Long-range role
Use the SV98 when the route provides observation, cover and a way to move with the Control Zone. Bolt-action cadence rewards target selection and makes missed close-range follow-up shots costly.
Bring binoculars or another useful Recon tool when the budget allows, and communicate marked threats. A sniper position that cannot affect the objective should move even if the sightline is comfortable.
Compare another option
The SVD provides semi-automatic follow-up shots on the documented Recon path, while the SKS opens earlier and costs less. The Mosin Nagant is another versioned bolt-action record with an earlier gate and lower deployment price.
